About Yuagari
湯上がり
Yuagari is the Japanese word for the moment you step out of the bath. Warm, clean, nothing to think about. That is the whole brief for this company.
Why we started
Somewhere in your forties, your skin starts producing more of a compound called nonenal. It is not sweat and it is not poor hygiene — it is oxidation, and it does not respond to scrubbing harder or buying stronger deodorant. Most people notice it on a collar or a pillowcase before they notice it on themselves, and then they spend years quietly layering fragrance over the top of it.
In Japan this has been understood for a long time, and the answer has been the same for centuries: kakishibu, the tannin pressed from astringent persimmons. It binds odour compounds and takes them with it down the drain.
We could not find a bar sold honestly outside Japan — either the persimmon was a token inclusion at the bottom of the ingredient list, or the marketing had wandered into claims nobody could stand behind. So we made one.
How we make it
Astringent persimmons are only worth pressing for a few weeks each autumn, when tannin content peaks. We buy from growers who have been doing this for generations, and we make the soap in small batches so it does not sit in a warehouse losing potency.
Four ingredients do the work: persimmon tannin, green tea, camellia seed oil and sea salt. There is no aluminium, no parabens and no synthetic dye. The unscented bar has no added fragrance at all, because a product that solves a smell problem should not create a new one.
What we will not do
We will not print a percentage we cannot evidence. We will not run a countdown timer that resets when you refresh. We will not invent reviews, and we will not put a publication's logo on this site until we have actually been in it.
We would rather grow slowly and be believed.
The guarantee
Use the whole bar for sixty days. If the people around you notice no difference, email us and we refund the order. Keep what is left. We would rather lose the sale than argue about it.
Yuagari products are cosmetics. They cleanse the skin. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
